There's not many affordable choices where I am from so we tend to grab what we find. That being said, pure metal ones like Tulip and Círculo seem to slide well in any type of yarn I use. Metal + plastic/silicone or fully plastic ones tend to get really "grippy" with certain yarns and with the kind of tension I have I wouldn't DARE touching a bamboo one.
I haven't noticed any major difference in the different crochet hooks I've used over the years. Right now I'm using a gripped set I got from walmart, but I don't feel like they're particularly better or worse than any others I've used in the past. Perhaps I need to try a larger variety of types?
I have some that have a nice rubber handle like clovers, but at a fraction of the cost. I got them from amazon and they're much nicer in my hands than just pure metal which requires my fingers to grip just a little too weird and gives me cramp.
Clover amour are definitely worth the investment, although unless you use a wide range of yarn sizes, I'd buy the main sized hooks that you're likely to use. I have a heap of hooks I've never used.
