When I make hats and such, I always have a 'join line' that you can see. How can I make this not happen? It looks like a diagonal line going down the length of my work. Thank you for your input. :) :)

This happens in crocheting or knitting in the round because in reality you work in spirals, the first stitch of the next round is crushing the stitch below to go up to the next level and it tends to show. I know some techniques in knitting to minimise this but unfortunately, I am not an experienced crocheter… Nevertheless I think you may find some videos searching for jogless crocheting in the round or no jog crocheting. I hope this helps !
If you are knitting in the round using double pointed needles, put a stitchmarker where your round ends and and always knit the first stitch of the next needle into the previous needle before starting the next needle. This way you don't get ladders between stitches in the same place. It keeps shifting and isn't as prominent.
After doing the slip stitch try to pull the yarn as hard as possible to make the slip stitch very small, that will not make it completely invisible but the line will be less visible
